MMR Vaccination
Measles, Mumps & Rubella — private catch-up vaccination for adults and children who missed their routine immunisations or require a second dose.
Overview
The MMR vaccine protects against three serious viral infections: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (German Measles). While MMR is part of the routine NHS childhood schedule, many adults and young people remain under-vaccinated or have only received one dose — leaving them vulnerable to outbreaks.
Measles is one of the most contagious infectious diseases in the world and can cause severe complications including encephalitis and death. Rubella poses particular risks to pregnant women, as infection in early pregnancy can cause serious birth defects (congenital rubella syndrome).
At Gloucester Travel Clinic, we provide private MMR vaccination for individuals who need a catch-up dose, are unsure of their vaccination history, or require documented proof of immunity — for example for university, healthcare employment, or international travel.
Who Should Get Vaccinated?
- Adults born after 1970 who have not received 2 doses of MMR and have no documented immunity
- University students who are unvaccinated or only had 1 dose
- Healthcare and childcare workers requiring evidence of 2-dose MMR vaccination
- Women of childbearing age who are not immune to rubella (must not be pregnant)
- Individuals travelling to areas with lower vaccination rates or active outbreaks
- Anyone who is unsure of their vaccination history and wants protection
